We're just a couple of weirdos that are pretty good at acting normal...
Heather and John met through mutual friends in D.C. in the fall of 2013. Drawn together by their mutual love of baseball, buffalo wings, and good Democrats, they were both immediately smitten. Despite that, the two weathered a few months of “will they or won’t they” before they both finally took the plunge. John surprised Heather for her birthday with a last-minute trip to New York City for New Year’s Eve, they kissed as the ball dropped in Times Square, and the rest — as they say — is history.
Almost 4 years later, John and Heather have had their fair share of adventures large and small, from cooking classes in the Cambodian countryside to some of the world’s longest binge watch sessions of Bob’s Burgers. They’ve spent time with friends, made new ones, and created a loving and far-flung community of family across the country.
John proposed to Heather on their first night of a long trip to Italy overlooking the Pantheon in Rome. Before the trip, Heather was so engrossed in a busy few weeks at work that she didn’t even notice how nervous and cagey John had been. After almost missing their first flight and calling a last-minute audible on the proposal location, John proposed in their hotel room in Rome, in front of open air windows looking out onto the Pantheon at sunset. Heather said yes (phew!), and lots of prosecco, pasta, and revelry followed.
After hundreds of meals, thousands of miles, 6 continents, 3 homes, 1 Max, and one diamond ring, we couldn’t be happier to tie the knot — and to share it with all of you!
